In the previous release, AMD mentioned tons of driver bugs, which it has fixed in the latest optional driver.
AMD Rolls Out Adrenalin Edition 26.10.2 Optional Driver With Plenty of Bug Fixes; Many Bugs Still Unresolved Affecting Multiple AMD Product Stacks
Nearly 10 days ago, AMD rolled out its Adrenalin Edition 26.10.1 that added FSR 4.1 support for the Radeon RX 6000 series, marking a major development for the RDNA 2 series. However, we noticed in the release notes tons of bugs that AMD acknowledged at the time of the release. Most issues were related to "intermittent" driver timeouts and system/application crashes, which primarily affected the Radeon RX 9000 and 7000 series.
Such issues have been surfacing for a while on forums, and we have even reported recently that AMD's 26.X.X branch has been making things pretty frustrating for RDNA 3 and RDNA 4 owners. Today, AMD launched another software version called Adrenalin Edition v26.10.2, which is an optional driver that tackles previously acknowledged bugs.
As you can see in the release notes, several bugs such as intermittent shutdowns, driver timeouts, and application crashes have been fixed on the RX 9000 series. Some issues were affecting even the Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 series, which shouldn't bother users anymore. Most bugs are associated with certain titles such as Valor Mortis and Final Fantasy Resonance, but there were other minor bugs related to functions such as toggling overlays, Metrics overlays, and the Steam launcher.
However, more bugs have been discovered according to the "known issues" mentioned in the release notes. These are, again, mostly intermittent app crashes that are affecting RX 7000 and 9000 series, and in some cases the RX 5000 series. Some bugs mentioned in the previous release haven't been fixed yet, but I think AMD is going to release more updates to mitigate those in the coming days.
