Reddit User Buys Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 From Amazon, But it Turned Out to Be Fake With an Intel CPU Substrate Even Though it Carried the Same IHS as 9950X3D2
We have witnessed a lot of CPU scams in recent years, particularly those associated with high-end AMD Ryzen CPUs. We have seen fake Ryzen 7 9800X3Ds entering the market, which could be identified by differences in the location of SMD components and the different font used on the IHS. However, what if everything appears to be identical on the surface?
This is what the Redditor u/danthebigboss experienced when purchasing the flagship Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 CPU from Amazon. The user bought the recently launched Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition CPU, which costs $899, and found that this particular model had drastic differences compared to an original one. He says it was sold and shipped by Amazon and was carried in a sealed box. Despite this, the CPU had visible changes at its base compared to the original Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 CPU.
