Local AI Monster, Lucebox Zero 495, Packs AMD's Fastest Gorgon Halo Chip & Can Also Be Configured With The Fastest Radeon AI Pro GPU
The era of local AI is upon us, with clients and enterprises quickly moving away from expensive cloud providers to dedicated solutions. NVIDIA & AMD have been rolling out a range of Local AI systems such as the DGX Spark (now in 64 GB) and the Ryzen AI Halo (now in AI MAX 400 SoC options).
Last week, AMD officially announced the rollout of its Ryzen AI MAX 400 SoCs, and it looks like the award for the most unique system goes to Lucebox's Zero 495, which has some serious horsepower given its price.
On paper, the Lucebox Zero 495 might look like any other Ryzen AI MAX system with the flagship Ryzen AI MAX+ 495 SoC, which packs 16 "Zen 5" cores and 40 "RDNA 3.5" iGPU cores, up to 192 GB of LPDDR5X memory, up to 4 TB of NVMe storage, al packed within an extruded aluminum PC chassis which measures 340x110x320mm (11.97 liters) and weighs 6 kg. The system comes with two USB4, two USB Type-A, a single HDMI 2.1, dual DP 2.1 ports, 5GbE Ethernet LAN, and WiFi 7.
Now here's the interesting part: the system comes paired with an AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700, which adds an additional 32 GB of memory at up to 640 GB/s speeds. That takes the total RAM pool up to 160 GB on a 128 GB configuration and 224 GB on a 192 GB configuration. The GPU receives its power through a 1000W SFX power supply, which is rated at 80 Plus Platinum.
- 128 GB or 192 GB unified memory, AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ PRO 495 at 273 GB/s
- 32 GB AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700, 640 GB/s, PCIe 4.0 x4 link
- 2 TB or 4 TB NVMe
- Optional cluster kit, one per machine: Intel E810 100 GbE card, installed, cable included
- 1,000 W SFX power supply, 80 PLUS Platinum, ~500 W under load, ~40 W idle
- Extruded aluminium chassis, 340 × 110 × 320 mm, 11.97 L, 6 kg
- 2× USB4, 2× USB-A, HDMI 2.1, 2× DP 2.1, plus 4 display outputs on the GPU
- 5 GbE Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth
- Ubuntu Server, Lucebox Engine and models preinstalled
- OpenAI- and Anthropic-compatible API, root over SSH
Additionally, Lucebox also provides an optional cluster kit (one per machine) which comes with an Intel E810 100 GbE card so you can connect two systems together. This kit costs $799, but will be a viable option for those who want to expand the AI capabilities.
In terms of performance, Lucebox claims an over 2x speed-up over the NVIDIA DGX Spark with 61.3 Tokens/s in Qwen3.8-27B and 86 Tokens/s in DeepSeek V4 Flash. The company has been sharing lots of performance details in its blog posts, which show how ROCm is faster than Vulkan, and how the system performs well across multiple clients versus the competition.
But we have to discuss the pricing. The retail price for the Lucebox Zero 495 is 6999, which is on the high side, but you have to consider that you are getting a Radeon AI PRO R9700 GPU, which alone launched at $1299.
For the first 200 units, the system has a $1000 savings, down to $5999 which makes it better value than other systems. Yes, you are getting 128 GB (+32 GB) of memory and 2 TB of storage. The 192 GB upgrade costs an extra $2000 while 4 TB of storage will set you another $250 in price. This takes the system cost to $9249 US.
The NVIDIA DGX Spark currently retails for $7000 US for the 128 GB configuration, and many 192 GB Ryzen AI Halo boxes retail around $6500. So it looks like those 200 units will sell out quickly. The first batch is expected to ship in January 2027 and will be a powerful addition for audiences in the AI segment.
