Corsair RM1200e Introduces PinProtect Per-Pin Overcurrent Protection for GPUs with 12V-2x6 Connectors
Popular hardware manufacturer Corsair has launched its upgraded RM1200e 1200W power supply, which now brings in a built-in protective feature to prevent connector melting on high-end graphics cards boasting the notorious 12V-2x6 connector. The new PSU is the first from Corsair to feature the PinProtect per-pin overcurrent protection technology that adds another layer of protection.
PinProtect remains one of the most notable highlights of the PSU that can monitor the current flowing through each of the six 12V power pins in the native 12V-2x6 connector in real time. If the current on any pin exceeds a specific threshold for a longer duration, the PSU automatically reduces the power to the connection and will trigger the protective GPU shutdown mechanism.
This is an automatic feature that doesn't require any user intervention, and when it activates, users may see a black screen.
