One shop owner has posted a video, revealing that he has received eight RTX 4090 and RTX 5090 units in just two days, indicating how the problem isn’t just a series of isolated incidents any longer.

The problem pointed out by YouTuber Brother Zhang wasn’t limited to a single brand, as a multitude of variants from MSI, ASUS, and others had the 12VHPWR connector melted. With the damage being almost identical on these GPUs, the YouTuber only had to follow a single repair path, making all processes mundane but easier to execute. One RTX 5090 from Gainward had its connector melted to the point that the 12VHPWR power cable was fused to the input.
As a result, the user had to cut the cable to sever the connection and send it off for repairs.
