An Intel LGA 1954 socketed motherboard has been pictured, which will support the upcoming Nova Lake-S "Core Series 4" CPUs.
Intel Nova Lake-S Motherboard For Business Users Pictured, Features DDR5-6400 Support
It looks like an Intel partner has presented its next-generation Nova Lake-S motherboard during an event in China (via @wxnod). Digital China is a company that we haven't heard of before, but they seem to be one of the first to publicly showcase an LGA 1954 socketed motherboard, while others have only done so in secrecy.
So coming to the details, the specific motherboard is called M26-NVLS-ATX09, and seems to be a very generic option for the upcoming Nova Lake family.
The standout is obviously the LGA 1954 socket, which will support the upcoming Intel chips, but here's the interesting part: while we have seen and heard about the socket featuring a 2L-ILM design, this specific motherboard features a standard single-lever design as far as the eye can see. This would mean that the 2L-ILM design is only made for higher-end platforms where cooling would be crucial, while the Q/B series would make use of TDP-optimized parts.
Besides that, the motherboard itself is based on either the Q970 or the B960 chipset, which shows its enterprise nature. These are mostly used in offices and business setups and are designed with durability and 24/7 use in mind.
In the flyer, we can see support mentioned for up to DDR5 6400 MT/s speeds and up to 256 GB of capacity (four DIMMs). There are two PCIe 5.0 x16 slots (1 x16 + 1 x8), two PCIe 5.0 x4 slots, NVMe (2 x Gen5x4) slots, and a single PCI slot. A dedicated M.2 E-Key (2230) slot carries the Wi-Fi 7 card.
There are some heatsinks covering the VRM and the heatsink, but the motherboard features a conventional ATX design. We can also spot an 8+4 pin connector configuration for the power. It looks like there is going to be a huge difference between these and the "Z" series motherboards when they launch next year. Currently, there is no word on the pricing, but given that hardware components have seen massive price hikes in the past few months, Intel's Nova Lake-S boards are going to cost slightly more than current-gen offerings.
